Do You Have
Your Team in Place?

One of the challenges and benefits of having your own business is being self-reliant. But, we can't do everything alone all of the time, so do you have your team in place?

Just as you need to hire good employees or contractors for your expanding business, having a team in place for legal questions and quandaries, is essential. Have your team in place so you can call on them when you need them. Among them, you'll need:

  • An estate planning attorney and an insurance broker to protect your family and business assets.
  • A business attorney to answer your questions about laws concerning your employees, legal paperwork, and to handle any legal issues that arise.
  • A tax attorney and/or CPA to help maximize your deductions and tax benefits.

Check out our March newsletter for more suggestions about whom you need on your team!

Highlights from Startup Series:
Did You Pick the Right Business Entity?

Couldn't make it to the last Startup Series about picking the right business entity? Here are a couple of highlights from the program.

→ Sole proprietorship offers total control over your business. However, ABL recommends you keep your business and personal funds separate to avoid possible headaches in the future.
→ While Operating Agreements are not always required by the state, ABL recommends you set one up if becoming an LLC. An Operating Agreement should
flesh out how you plan to structure your business, how finances will be handled, member relationships and responsibilties, and more.
→ LLP's in the state of California are limited to professionals, such as lawyers or doctors who form a partnership. This limits the liability of other partners if one partner is sued. In other states, many professionals choose to form LLP's because of the liability protection the entity offers.

Have questions about whether or not your business entity is best for you? Contact ABL for a consultation!
