Quest for Quality:
2013 - 2014 Philippine Art Awards Winners Exhibition
March 27 - April 30, 2014
3/F Galleries

The Yuchengco Museum is proud to be the venue for  Quest for Quality: 2013 - 2013 Philippine Art Awards Winners Exhibition. On view are the winning pieces--mostly large-scale paintings--from the 40 regional winners from Metro Manila, Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. From the 40 regional finalists, eight national winners were selected.

For almost two decades, the Philippine Art Awards has maintained its preeminent status as both a regional and national art competition due to the growing participation of visual artists all over the Philippines.

The exhibit is organized by the Philippine Art Awards.

Rediscover our Rizal Room
4/F Alcove Gallery

We have recently refurbished our Alcove Gallery at the fourth floor into a room featuring memorabilia related to National Hero Jose Rizal. On display are books on the life, works, and legacy of Rizal; letters between Rizal and his family and wife Josephine Bracken; and quotations from Rizal, among many others.

One of the highlights of the gallery is antique furniture belonging to Leonor Rivera's heirs, the Kipping family. The round sofa and chairs were previously displayed in the Kippings' ancestral home in Camiling, Tarlac.

New Olds: Design Between Tradition and Innovation
May 10 - June 6, 2014
3/F Galleries

Together with curator Volker Albus, the Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen e. V. (ifa) presents New Olds: Design between Tradition and Innovation, with sixty objects that explore the relationship between tradition and innovation in contemporary design.

The variety of the many approaches are bundled around the themes material, construction, configuration, production, and traditional use. This exhibit looks at aspects of the "new" and the "old," discussing differences and new combinations, presenting trends in recycling and redesign, and looking at the transformation of design classics and traditional ways of using new materials.
